Viking Wrestling Club will push your athletes physically and mentally. All the while continuing to help them develop their love for this sport and chase the best version of themselves on and off the mat! Viking Wrestling Club is committed to helping young athletes and families achieve their athletic and life goals through wrestling and other activities.

VIKING WRESTLING CLUB

Viking Wrestling Club is a non-profit-based private organization in Des Moines, Iowa. Viking Wrestling Club is to encourage participation in the sport of wrestling, keep the kids excited and interested in the sport as well as provide the proper technique and training to allow each kid to reach their fullest potential as a wrestler. We strive to not only help athletes develop technically and physically on the mat but also help to develop them into great people off the mat. Our training philosophy and methods focus on developing the strongest athletes and helping them excel at their best wrestling styles.

Viking Wrestling Club offers training and wrestling programs to young athletes from ages 5 and up. For our "Little Vikes"  (beginner) we create a fun and safe environment for kids to develop their motor skills, wrestling technique, respect, and discipline. The training programs for our "Elite" (intermediate and advanced) are created to help athletes develop high-class wrestling technique, strength, and conditioning. We offer dedicated wrestling classes by experienced coaches who have the knowledge and skills to guide growing wrestlers to become champions.

Viking Wrestling Club is a year around wrestling program providing the opportunity to young athletes of all ages to practice all three wrestling styles: Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco-Roman.

VWC is an AAU/USA Sanctioned club for the folk-style season.  You will need to purchase an AAU or USA card for your wrestler before registration.  This is insurance for both you and VWC.

Grant Henderson

Director & Elite Head Coach

Coach Henderson is an Iowa native and competed at Grand View University collegiately. Full time he serves as assistant coach for Grand View University. Coach is one for details and hammering home the importance of fixing the smallest errors in our drilling. He oversees our Elite & Little Vikes programs. Prior to being hired at Grand View he was the Director of Eastern Iowa Wrestling Club.

Ty Harris

Elite Coach

Coach Ty has helped VWC grow substantially these past couple of years. He is a great leader on and off the mat. Ty wrapped up his academic career by graduating from Grand View University in 2022 and has accepted a job in the area.

Gabe Lewis

Elite Coach

Coach Gabe has been a huge part of the VWC for a few years. He has overcome a lot of setbacks in his wrestling career steming from injuries but his wrestling IQ is through the roof. He does an amazing job connecting with our athletes and helping them chase their goals.

Paul Reedy

Little Vikes Director & Global Executive Manager

Prior to Grand View, Coach Reedy coached at Perry High School and Wartburg College. As an athlete, Reedy was a member of three national championship teams. Additionally, he was part of three state championship teams at Emmetsburg High School.

Coach Henderson when asked about Coach Reedy stated, "Plain and simple he is one of the best. Truly an amazing person and one heck of a coach!"

Coach Mitchell had this to say about Reedy: “In my opinion, Coach Reedy is one of the top assistants in the nation. The impact he has had on our program speaks for itself. His passion for helping athletes on and off the mat is unmatched.”
 

Marty Margolis

Little Vikes Head Coach

Coach Marty fills the room with excitement and energy to help lead our Little Vikes. Athletes are attracted to his outgoing personality and his attention to detail. Excited to have Coach Marty back at the helm.

Jack Ervien

Little Vikes Coach

Jack is a Greco Junior World Team Member in 2019. 4X State place winner in Washington (2nd, 3rd, 7th, 8th). Jack is a very talented wrestler but also a great mentor for our Little Vikes off the mat as well.
